St. Louis Community College will no longer offer on-campus childcare services at its Forest Park and Meramec campuses, effective July 1, 2010.

Filing for the Subdistrict 4 seat on the St. Louis Community College Board of Trustees opens 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15. The seat is currently held by Robert Nelson, who has served on the college’s board as the Subdistrict 4 representative since 2004.
Nixon Says Community Colleges Will Play Key Role in State’s Economic Turnaround

The need for workers with vocational or technical training is growing quickly, and Missouri must be ready to keep up. That was the central theme of a roundtable discussion led by Gov. Jay Nixon during a visit to the high-tech Emerson Center for Engineering and Manufacturing at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley yesterday.
Green Jobs and Eco-Development Expert to Speak at STLCC-Meramec

Baye Adofo-Wilson, founder and executive director of the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District in Newark, N.J., will discuss green jobs and eco-development during a special presentation 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the theater at St. Louis Community College-Meramec, 11333 Big Bend Road.

Nunn, Ballard Earn Local Awards

An administrator and faculty member from St. Louis Community College have been recognized for professional achievements. Rod Nunn, vice chancellor for workforce and community development, is a recipient of the Inclusive Leadership Award from the St. Louis Business Journal. Kelly Ballard, associate professor in mathematics at STLCC-Meramec, is one of eight recipients of the 2009 Excellence in Education Award.
Todd Newton to Be Inducted into Meramec Alumni Walk of Fame

Todd Newton, a former communications student at St. Louis Community College-Meramec who is one of the fastest rising stars on the motivational speaking circuit, will be inducted into the Meramec Alumni Walk of Fame Sept. 25. Newton began a career in radio as announcer Rick Idol at the former WKBQ in St. Louis and in television at KPLR-TV before moving to Los Angeles and becoming one of the most successful game show hosts of the late 1990s.
