Anthony Thompson

Anthony "Tony" Thompson is the president/CEO of KWAME Building Group, Inc., which he founded in 1991. Headquartered in St. Louis, KWAME is a general contracting firm providing construction services including project management, scheduling, estimating, contract/claims administration and value engineering. KWAME has been involved in some of St. Louis’s largest construction projects, including the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport expansion and the new Busch Stadium.

Prior to forming KWAME, Thompson served as project engineer for Anheuser-Busch Cos., as a mechanical engineer for Monsanto Chemical Co., and as a construction engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Thompson earned his master's degree in civil engineering with a construction management major from Washington University and his MBA in finance from Webster University. In addition, he holds bachelor's degrees in architectural engineering and environmental design from the University of Kansas.

Thompson is a member of numerous civic, charitable and professional organizations. He and his wife, Kim, established the KWAME Foundation to support universities and schools that improve educational opportunities for minority students. KWAME has been recognized as one of 48 companies most supportive of historically black college and university engineering schools.

Thompson and his wife are the parents of two children and live in St. Louis.
