Lydia Padilla

Lydia Padilla owns and operates the St. Louis franchise of TRC Staffing Services, Inc., a personnel placement firm for temporary, full-time employment and permanent employees. A 20-year veteran of the staffing industry, Padilla and her associates provide traditional staffing services, professional and technical contractors, management services, and placement of bilingual personnel for some of the country's leading companies, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

Born in San Diego, Calif., in 1970, Padilla attended Mt. San Antonio College and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1995 to open and operate a staffing franchise with multiple offices. In 2000, ready for the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship, she moved to St. Louis to launch her own franchise of TRC Staffing Services, Inc. For four consecutive years, her franchise has received the 150 Percent Award for year-to-year revenue growth.

Community Service
A strong supporter of the St. Louis region, Padilla is active on many boards and committees. Her current appointments include serving on the board of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region; secretary of the Greater St. Louis Regional Empowerment Zone Board; and vice chair of the Workforce Investment Board (appointed to the latter two by St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay). She is a member of FOCUS St. Louis' Leadership St. Louis class of 2007-08, and serves on the Executive Committee of the St. Louis Community College Foundation Board and chair of the Development Committee of St. Louis Community College board. Padilla is a long-time supporter of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis and serves as the chair of its Foundation Board.

Previously, she has held various leadership positions with the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She has also served as board secretary of the YWCA of Greater St. Louis and as chair of the YWCA's Circle of Women.

In 2003 and 2008 Padilla was named the Hispanic Businessperson of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis. In 2004, Project Interchange of the American Jewish Committee chose Padilla to travel to Israel as one of its national Latino delegates. In 2005, the St. Louis Business Journal named her one of its 40 Under 40 outstanding professionals. As part of the President's Mentoring Initiative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services honored Padilla in 2007 for her mentorship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri.

She has been featured in Entrepreneur.com, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Business Journal, St. Louis Commerce Magazine and the West End Word.

Away from work, Padilla and her husband, Chris Salinas, live in historic Lafayette Square, where they are rehabbing a historic home. She enjoys spending time with her six nieces and nephew and being a Big Sister to Ra'Shonda. Padilla loves travel, baseball, World Cup soccer, and great food and wine.
