Ballet and Tap

Ballet: Beginning

The fun and exciting movement and musicality of ballet provide a great way to get into shape with techniques that are as good for the soul as they are for the body! Learn to utilize your center/core for strong ballet technique. Designed for students who have never studied ballet or who haven’t taken a class recently. Ballet shoes and appropriate attire are required. **

Tap Dance: Beginning

Learn steps and combinations as well as an entire routine. Develop your sense of movement while practicing basic rhythm tap techniques in this fun way to exercise! Designed for beginners and those with limited tap experience. It is recommended that students choose a Maryjane or Oxford style shoe. All students should also have metatarsal grippers removed from their shoes. **

Latin

The Salsa Experience: Beginning

Learn about authentic Latin culture through the rhythmic sounds of salsa music and dance. You will discover the history of salsa, the origin of the dance, basic salsa steps and musicality skills. You will be moving and shaking in time for our last class night at some of the hottest Latin dance spots in town! Couples are welcome but no partner is required. **

The Salsa Experience: Intermediate

Learn more intricate turn patterns, footwork and body movement and gain a better understanding of musicality, timing and speed. This will really get you moving and shaking to some of the best Latin tunes on our class night out on the town! Prerequisite: The Salsa Experience: Beginning or understanding of basic salsa steps, technique, musicality skills, and cultural awareness. Couples are welcome but no partner is required. **

The Bachata Experience

This Dominican dance will have you styling and socializing on the dance floor in no time! Build a strong foundation in both footwork and partner-work, achieve an authentic look and feel in your movement, develop and enhance leading and following techniques, and develop your dance etiquette. Also, gain a better understanding of Bachata’s history and culture along with theory, tools and concepts to help make you a more versatile dancer. Couples are welcome but not required. **

The Kizomba Explosion

Dirty dancing was not just a movie! Come experience this sensual Angolan dance, which combines salsa, bachata, tango, merengue, samba and lambada and is currently sweeping the globe. Learn foundational footwork and partner work for both lead and follow plus the history, origins, and culture of kizomba. By the end of your class sessions, awe spectators with the way your hips move and how effortless it looks. This dance can be performed solo or with a partner. Couples are welcome but not required. **

Swing

West Coast Swing

West Coast swing is the most popular, evolving form of swing dance worldwide and is danced by all generations. The music can be slower for blues or more upbeat for today’s popular tunes. Leads are smooth, flirty and fun. It’s very popular in the St. Louis area with many places to enjoy West Coast swing on your next dance-night out. Learn the basics and move on to as many patterns as possible. Work on spinning, timing, lead/follow and more. Great fun for parties, weddings and other social events. Partners required. Fee is per person. Dress shoes recommended. No tennis shoes. **

Vintage Era Dances

1920s, '30s, '40s Charleston

Kick it like Gatsby with this fun and energetic class! The partnered Charleston swept the nation from the 1920s to the 1940s, evolving over that time. Fast-paced and high energy, the style combines kicks and a high pulse to bring out your fun and wild side while dancing to jazz, ragtime and swing music. Come learn Charleston’s basic steps, turns and stylistic variations. **

Yeehaw! Grab your Stetson and boots or come as you are because everyone is welcome, and everyone can dance! As featured on St. Louis Public Radio and in the Ladue News, come try this fun, active aging (55+) dance class whether you’re a first timer or just “wanna cut a rug.” This class keeps your feet movin’, tappin’ and chassé-ing!
