NEW! Yin-Flow Yoga

Based off of the meridian energetic lines of traditional Chinese medicine, this class will emphasize the kidneys/urinary bladder, liver/gallbladder, spleen/stomach, lungs/large intestine and the heart/small intestine pairs. Explore poses primarily on the floor and hold for longer periods of time. First half of class will be dedicated to the yin yoga poses and the second half will emphasize gentle flow style movements to cultivate a balance of stillness and dynamic movement.

Yoga for Stress and Anxiety

Modern life and busyness can cause your stress response to be continually turned on leading to feelings of chronic worry and exhaustion. Focus on specific techniques to activate the relaxation response leading to greater calmness and ease. Class is a combination of gentle movements and restorative yoga poses. You will be able to use yoga props that you have in your home including blankets, pillows and a scarf. Class also emphasizes breathing practices and meditations for stress reduction. No yoga experience is necessary.

Alignment Principles of Yoga

In this beginner yoga class, learn how to assess and adjust your body alignment to develop strength and flexibility. Through mindful movement, help restore your mental and physical health, possibly even alleviating painful conditions like sore back and knees. Safe and effective for all levels and experience.

Chess for Beginners

Have you always wanted to learn the world’s greatest game? Starting at square one, go from pawn to a tournament ready chess player! Build critical thinking, spark cognitive development, increase memory and learn skills that translate to all parts of your life. Students must create a free account on Lichess.org and share username with instructor prior to first class. Please bring a notebook and pen.

Chess Tactics

Go beyond the opening and dive into tactical motifs and complex checkmate patterns. Analyze high level grandmaster games, middle game and endgame strategies. This class is for intermediate chess players who know how to play but have not yet learned the more challenging concepts. Prerequisite: Students at this level can readily implement opening principles and can demonstrate all advanced rules of chess. Students must create a free account on Lichess.org and share username with instructor prior to first class. Please bring a notebook and pen.
