Discover the History and Architecture of Downtown STL: A Walking Tour

Encounter the rich and vibrant history of St. Louis (and the United States!) on this downtown St. Louis walking tour. Discover, or re-discover, our special city’s unique sites that hold historical and architectural significance both locally and nationally. Join us to awaken a new and/or deeper appreciation for the city known as the “Gateway to the West.” Refreshments and light snacks will be available for purchase at an eatery along the route. **

Exploring Mid-Century Modern Architecture in West County

After World War II, architects in America turned their eyes toward simple design using lots of light and taking advantage of a building’s natural setting. This bus tour will take you to see homes and houses of worship that show off this style. Enjoy a peek at a Frank Lloyd Wright building and a house commissioned by a national magazine. Fish and Ferris

Venture to downtown St. Louis and visit the newest additions at Union Station: the St. Louis Aquarium and St. Louis Ferris Wheel. From the local streams and rivers to the depths of the oceans, take a journey and explore the hidden treasures of the Missouri and Mississippi waterways. Delight in a ride on the new wheel in fully enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas that seat up to six adults each. Ferris wheel passengers will take three to four rotations high over the St. Louis skyline during a 15-minute ride. Enjoy lunch at Broadway Oyster Bar. This is a light walking tour. Mom and Pop Doughnut Shops in St. Louis

Cruising the streets of south St. Louis on this bus tour, celebrate the little mom and pop doughnut shops with stops at three of these delightfully delicious havens (including one which is a Route 66 landmark). You will be able to purchase doughnuts at each one. Discover all types of architecture including art deco buildings and learn about Vincent Price, craft beer, kidnappings, Steve McQueen and a mini railroad that is long gone. This tour involves a small amount of walking. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time. Withdrawal deadline for refund: 6/28. **

Re-Live the 1904 World’s Fair

Join us for an illustrated, narrated tour of the historic 1904 World’s Fair grounds in and around Forest Park. Travel back in time through a special 3D stereoscopic presentation (special 3D glasses will be provided), and then visit the sites of the marvels you’ve just seen: the colossal Ferris wheel and floral clock, festival hall and the Grand Basin, the fabulous pike with the Tyrolean Alps and baby incubators, the Philippine village and the walled city of Jerusalem, the first Olympic Games to be held in the USA, massive buildings, famous and exotic people, amazing inventions and much more! Fee includes a light lunch of foods made famous at the Fair and print materials (including maps) for you to take home. Some walking required. Provide own transportation for the tour. **

Daniel Boone: The Frontiersman Who Made Missouri His Home

Daniel Boone, known as a folk legend, woodsman, explorer, surveyor, merchant and Revolutionary War militiaman, made the frontier real for people east of the Appalachian Mountains. While winding his way westward, Boone gave up his Kentucky rifle and became the proud owner of a rifle made here in St. Louis. You will learn about Boone's life and accomplishments on the bus tour to Defiance, Missouri. Upon arrival, you will have a walk-through tour of Boone's home; lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. Withdrawal deadline for refund: 5/25. Hannibal: America’s Hometown

Ever wondered what it would be like to walk in the shoes of Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn? Grab a friend and travel to the boyhood town of Mark Twain: Hannibal, Missouri. Tour Twain’s home and museum and attend a private talk, “Is Mark Twain Relevant Today?,” with the museum curator. Take a mid-day break to enjoy the sights and lunch while on the Mark Twain Riverboat dockside. Lunch will be followed by a one-hour cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Finish your Hannibal adventure with Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn in Richard Garey’s “Mark Twain Himself” performance at the Planter’s Barn Theater. Land of Lincoln via Amtrak

Travel to the land of Lincoln —Springfield, Illinois —and visit the only home Lincoln ever owned, now a national historic site run by the National Park Service. Discover how a four-block neighborhood reveals an intimate look at Lincoln as a husband, a father, a neighbor and a politician. A tour of Lincoln’s Tomb and Presidential Museum includes breathtaking monuments and much more. Route 66 in Illinois: Springfield to Carlinville

Come explore the Mother Road in Illinois. See a motorcycle club’s Route 66 mural, visit the home of the corn dog for a morning corn dog or doughnut, view a patriotic muffler man, and get photographed near the turkey tracks. Enjoy lunch in a well-preserved 1929 soda fountain, with a chance to visit a 19th century pharmacy. Explore a neon museum and meet the man who created all the draperies for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. We will also see the Battle of Virden monument and drive a unique stretch of brick Route 66 pavement. Withdrawal deadline for refund: 6/1. **

Begin near Madrid where the royal palace of Aranjuez is located, on to Cuenca, the fascinating town perched high up on the cliffs, then to Valencia on the east coast. Discover beautiful historic architecture while studying some of the most intriguing examples of contemporary architect, Santiago Calatrava. And that is only the beginning! Continue on to adventure to Palma Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Barcelona, Bilbao (Basque country), San Sebastian, St. Ignatius of Loyola (Pamplona), Segovia and finally San Ildefonso. Throughout this adventure, “visit” museums, seaside resorts, the famous Bull Run and a palace.
