A one-to-two-minute audition monologue is welcome, but not required.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Synopsis: As a blizzard rages, Henry Harry lies sleeping under a heap of blankets. Suddenly, he is awakened by the insistent knocking of Rosannah DeLuce, a distraught young woman who has fled all the way from Arizona to escape her impending marriage.

Synopsis: The scene is the set where Anthony J. Lefcourt, writer and director, is rehearsing his new play, a “classic whodunit” (in which all the characters are named Butler) with which he hopes to regain the success that has eluded him in recent seasons. Desperately eager to stimulate his cast to their best efforts, he has deliberately withheld the final scene of the play from them, but his patience is worn thin by the petty jealousies and romantic rivalries that detract from their concentration. In an effort to spur them on he “stages” the murder of one of the actresses, after which the plot begins to twist and turn with such dazzling ingenuity — and hilarity — that soon actors and audience alike have lost track of what is real and what is make-believe — until a surprise ending sets matters straight in a most bizarre and ironic way.

Note for all actors: This is an ensemble cast with only two scenes that do not include everyone in the cast. I will do my best to accommodate varying schedules, but the more we can work together, the better the show will be. If you are cast, please block off the six weeks necessary for the show process to unfold.

Synopsis

Sylvia is a clever and touching comedy by A. R. Gurney that explores midlife crises, marriage, and our relationships with pets. The play cleverly features a human actress portraying the title canine character, which highlights the humorous and sometimes bizarre rivalry for affection.

Roles Available:

Role	Description
Sylvia	A street-smart, high-energy stray dog [played by a human]. She is exuberant, affectionate, and fiercely loyal to Greg.
Greg	A middle-aged Manhattan empty-nester working in finance. He is feeling restless and disillusioned with middle age. Kate’s husband.
Kate	A public school English teacher. She is entering a fulfilling phase of her own career and resents the disruption and emotional distraction that Sylvia brings. Greg’s wife.
Tom/Phyllis/Leslie	Multipurpose supporting roles representing a fellow dog owner, a progressive marriage counselor, and a society friend.

EMILY DICKINSON ENTERS INTO HEAVEN

SYNOPSIS: The play imagines Emily Dickinson arriving in heaven and meeting Shakespeare and Sappho. Instead of a peaceful afterlife, heaven becomes a literary gathering where three writers debate poetry, immortality, fame, love, and artistic expression.

LOCKED AND LOADED, CAN I HELP YOU?

SYNOPSIS: A short dark comedy set in a small-town gun shop. The play follows Wayne, the enthusiastic owner of the store, whose ordinary workday is interrupted when an unusual customer (Jesus) comes in asking about buying a gun. What begins as an absurd encounter gradually becomes a thoughtful and ironic exploration of faith and human behavior.

SWEAT By Lynn Nottage

SYNOPSIS: In 2008 in Reading, PA, one of the poorest cities in America, a group of down-and-out factory workers struggle to keep their present lives in balance, ignorant of the financial devastation looming in their near future. The powerful crux of this new play is knowing the fate of the characters long before it’s even in their sights. Based on Nottage’s extensive research and interviews with real residents of Reading, Sweat is a topical reflection of the present and the poignant outcome of America’s economic decline.

November 18-21, 7:30 p.m.
November 22, 2:00 p.m.
