Testing Services at STLCC
St. Louis Community College offers a variety of testing services to support students and community members in their academic and professional pursuits. Our testing centers provide convenient locations, flexible hours and a wide range of exam types to meet your needs.
Review the locations and hours of operation for STLCC testing centers to ensure you choose the most convenient time and place for your test.
Students who need to test during later hours should schedule exams close to the class test date and start early enough to finish before closing. For example, begin a one-hour exam by 4:45 p.m. if the center closes at 6 p.m.
All testing will be stopped 15 minutes prior to closing.

Placement Tests
STLCC places students in classes based on high school GPA, test scores and previous coursework. Some students may need to take a placement test before registering for classes or meeting with an advisor.
You can find more information in the following placement guides:
ACCUPLACER Placement Testing
Follow the instructions below to take an ACCUPLACER placement test.
1. Prepare for the test: You can view study materials and placement test practice materials on the ACCUPLACER website. You can also:
- Watch STLCC’s test preparation video.
- View STLCC’s online resources to help you prepare.
2. Take the test: Students can take the ACCUPLACER test on campus, at an approved remote site or at home.
Option 1: Testing on Campus- You can walk in and take the placement test at an STLCC testing center during open hours. The test is untimed, but you should plan for two hours. Testing ends 15 minutes before closing. You MUST present a valid photo ID (state ID, driver's license or school ID). All personal belongings must be locked up during the test.
- Test at an approved site: Take the ACCUPLACER exam at an approved testing center near you. ACCUPLACER exam locations can be found on the College Board website. You’re responsible for any proctoring fees.
- Test at home: Use Examity Meazure Learning for remote testing. You’re responsible for a $28 proctoring fee. Ensure your computer has a camera and microphone before registering.
- IMPORTANT: To take the ACCUPLACER exam at an approved remote site or online, you will need to email your preferred campus testing center with the following information: full name, date of birth, student ID, email, state of residence, preferred testing site (remote or online), and the tests you need to take. The center will send you a voucher and instructions on scheduling and payment.
3. Access your scores: Once you have completed the test, you can view your scores through the ACCUPLACER Student Portal.
- If you need help, check out instructions on how to access scores (PDF).
4. Verify results: Contact the testing center to verify results. Allow at least 72 hours for registration and test processing.
Retaking the Test
If you want to improve your placement test score, you can retake the ACCUPLACER test up to two times per calendar year. Each retake costs $10 and requires a 24-hour wait after your last attempt. If you’re already enrolled in a reading, English or math course, you’ll need approval from the department chair before retaking the test.
If you have a disability that requires accommodation for the placement test, please call the access office at the campus of your choice for an appointment before testing. Documentation will be required.
Out-of-Class Testing
STLCC students can take proctored exams at a testing center if they:
- Have out-of-class testing accommodations
- Need to make up a missed exam
- Are taking an online/HyFlex course with required proctored exams
Be sure to read through the policies and procedures before requesting an appointment.
Out-of-Class Testing Policies and Procedures
To ensure a smooth testing experience, the following policies and procedures have been established for all students and clients. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your nearest STLCC testing center.
- Appointments for out-of-class testing must be made no later than two business days in advance. Saturday and Sunday do not count as business days. A testing appointment may be scheduled in person, by telephone or by email. Students should schedule their exam at the same testing time or in the same testing window available to their classmates. Only a student’s instructor may authorize an exception to this rule.
- Test takers are expected to arrive promptly at their scheduled testing time. Test takers should call the testing center in advance if they anticipate arriving late for their appointment. All testing must be completed 15 minutes prior to closing.
- Students are required to turn in their testing materials when their testing time has elapsed.
- The testing center staff will assign each test taker a room and work station.
- Test takers may only be granted use of the testing time and materials authorized by their instructor in writing. The testing center's staff may not approve the use of unauthorized books, notes, calculators, equipment or additional time. Staff reserves the right to inspect any testing materials or equipment that have been granted to test takers by their instructor or by the Access Office.
- No food, drink, cell phones, smart watches or other electronic devices are permitted in the testing rooms. Lockers are available for securing belongings.
- No outerwear is allowed. Test takers are required to store hats, gloves, jackets and coats outside the testing area. (Provisions will be made for religious dress.)
- Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Dishonesty includes, but is not limited
to, the following:
- Test takers giving or receiving test questions or answers
- Using unauthorized materials or equipment
- Plagiarizing
- The testing centers’ managers will report instances of academic dishonesty to a test taker’s instructor and other College authorities, who will determine appropriate consequences.
The College’s testing centers employ video monitoring and personal observation to ensure the integrity of the testing process.
