About the Presentation:
We need bees. While we may take them and other pollinators for granted, these organisms are key to the varied, colorful and nutritious diets we need and have come to expect. During this lecture, community beekeeper Scott Allred will discuss the seasonal aspects of beekeeping, including what bees and plants are doing throughout the year.
About the Presenter:
Scott Allred is the owner of Allred Bees, a Wildwood-based business that maintains 50 hives across the area. Allred’s honey can be purchased from local retailers as well as a self-service stand on Old State Road.
Allred routinely shares his knowledge of beekeeping with local garden clubs, scout troops and schools. He also serves as a mentor to students at STLCC-Wildwood, who are involved with maintaining the campus' bee hives. Aside from his beekeeping hobby, Allred works as an IT director at Maritz.
