STLCC Announces Winners of the PepsiCo S.M.I.L.E. Scholarships

Three STLCC students awarded PepsiCo S.M.I.L.E. Scholarships to advance their education and careers.

St. Louis Community College is proud to announce three students have been chosen as recipients of the prestigious PepsiCo S.M.I.L.E. (Success Matters in Life & Education) Scholarship. This scholarship and support services program is designed for community college graduates from underserved communities who are looking to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
The students were informed of the award in a live virtual presentation on Thursday, May 8:
- Jayson Minner, St. Louis, Missouri – transferring to Washington University – St. Louis to study leadership and management.
- Kenneth Copes, Kansas City, Missouri – transferring to the University of Missouri – Kansas City to study business administration and finance.
- Deanda Moore, St. Louis, Missouri – transferring to University of Missouri – St. Louis to study business administration.
As part of the PepsiCo Foundation’s mission, this scholarship program helps dismantle barriers for underserved communities while unlocking opportunities for education, employment, and prosperity.
The PepsiCo Foundation community college program takes a comprehensive approach to educational advancement. Designed to address challenges such as retention, completion rates, and workforce readiness, the program empowers students with the support and resources they need to succeed in their academic and professional journeys.
Jeff Pittman, PhD, Chancellor of STLCC, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the PepsiCo Foundation: "We are incredibly proud of our students who have been recognized with the PepsiCo Scholarships. This support alleviates financial burdens and opens doors to future career opportunities and professional growth."
The recipients of the PepsiCo scholarships at St. Louis Community College have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements, leadership qualities, and a commitment to their communities. These scholarships will empower them to continue their education and pursue their career aspirations with renewed vigor.
The STLCC students express their gratitude and excitement about being chosen for this honor:
“I am over the moon about being named a PepsiCo Scholarship winner! I thank God for getting me here, and my STLCC family for always empowering me to seek new opportunities. This school has truly changed my life, and I look forward to connecting with the PepsiCo community,” said Jayson Minner.
"The PepsiCo Scholarship will provide me opportunities that I could have never imagined had I not committed to my goal to pursue a degree- And for this I am truly grateful,” said Deanda Moore.
“Receiving the PepsiCo Scholarship is an incredible honor that has lightened the financial burden of my education and empowered me to focus more on my academic and career goals. I’m truly grateful for this support and the investment in my future,” said Kenneth Copes.
