STLCC Graduate Earns Student Journalism Award

Robbie Chamberlain

Robbie Chamberlain, a 2026 graduate of St. Louis Community College, has been awarded the A-Mark Student Journalism Award, a $5,000 scholarship to continue his journalism studies.

Chamberlain graduated magna cum laude in May 2026. During the 2025-26 academic year, he served as editor-in-chief of The Scene, STLCC-Forest Park’s student newspaper.

Under his leadership, The Scene earned Best Overall Newspaper at the Missouri College Media Association conference in Springfield, Mo. The publication also earned second place for its website and second place in the conference sweepstakes competition.

Chamberlain first became interested in journalism while participating in a student-run radio station at Ritenour High School. After enrolling at STLCC, he joined The Scene to continue building his skills and prepare for a career in journalism.

As editor-in-chief, Chamberlain wrote news stories and opinion columns, contributed photography and led outreach and recruitment efforts.

His work earned several individual honors at the state conference. He received first place in news photography and sports photography, second place in in-depth news reporting, third place in news writing and feature photography, and an honorable mention for investigative reporting.

Chamberlain is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and participated in the 2025 Honors Case Study Challenge.

He will transfer to the University of Missouri School of Journalism in fall 2026.
