Undefeated Archers beat State Fair, earn third MCCAC title

St. Louis Community College men’s soccer team defeated State Fair Community College with a score of 3-1, allowing the Archers to advance to Region XVI Quarterfinals, set for Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at STLCC-Florissant Valley. The campus is located at 3400 Pershall Road in Ferguson, and the contest will be held on its softball and soccer field.

To celebrate, the College is providing free treats – until snacks run out – to those who attend.

The Archers’ victory against State Fair means they have earned a third consecutive Missouri Community College Athletic Conference championship. STLCC stands at 11-3; is 4-0 in MCCAC contests and 3-0 in Region XVI competitions.

The Region XVI Quarterfinals are Oct. 20, Semifinals are Oct. 23 and Final is Oct. 27. Each match is at 2 p.m. If the Archers win the quarterfinals, the team will host the semifinal and final tournaments at home as well.

“We have a group of classy individuals who collectively make a great team. Everyone is excited to start the playoffs. This is the part of the season with the most excitement, pressure and glory,” said Tim Mosby, men’s soccer team coach.

“Please come and support a nationally-ranked team.”

Fans don’t have to wait until the quarterfinals to enjoy a match. The Archers will face the Culver-Stockton Wildcats at their next game on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, located at 11333 Big Bend Road, in St. Louis.
