Montage Named Best Overall Two-Year College Newspaper by MCMA

The organization announced award winners of its annual contest virtually since the April 4 convention was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Montage also received first-place awards for its website and Back-to-School Magazine, as well as 22 additional individual awards.

Entries in the Division 4 competition, which included two-year colleges statewide, were judged for general excellence by members of the Missouri Press Association.

The Montage has consistently won awards for excellence in student journalism at the state and national levels. They include the Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and a Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press.

This marks the 13th time the Montage has been named the MCMA’s best overall two-year college newspaper. It also is a 14-time winner of the Sweepstakes Award, presented for most awards won by a single school in one year. Shannon Philpott-Sanders serves as the newspaper’s faculty adviser.
