Perkins Named 2020 NCI Board Chair

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Dr. Elizabeth Gassel PerkinsNorth County Incorporated, a regional development association, elected Dr. Elizabeth Gassel Perkins as its 2020 board chair.

Perkins, campus president and chief academic officer for St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley, will succeed Rick Stevens, president of Christian Hospital, who served on NCI’s board for three years. Dr. Perkins has served on the board since 2016.

Perkins relishes the opportunity to advocate for local businesses and community members.

“There are few things that give me as much pride as serving as chair of North County Incorporated,” Perkins said. “We have crucial work to be done this year, including supporting the 2020 Census, continuing our work around equity, and sharing stories about people, places and progress with the True North campaign. I'm excited to work with my colleagues on the board of directors and the incomparable NCI staff to reach each of our goals to support the needs and development of North St. Louis County.”

Perkins joined STLCC in August 2016. In addition to her role as campus president, she serves as administrator for the College’s dual credit, dual enrollment and early college partnerships.

Dr. Andrew Langrehr, STLCC vice chancellor for academic affairs, is confident Perkins will continue to advance North County in the position.

“Congratulations to Dr. Elizabeth Perkins and NCI,” Langrehr said. “Dr. Perkins will be excellent in this role. She is a talented leader with a heart for North County.”

Perkins was recognized for her efforts with the 2019 Outstanding Education Award by North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice, and is also a board member of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.

“We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Perkins, outstanding educator and community leader, serve as our board chair,” said Stevens. “Elizabeth will effectively guide and ensure the continued economic development advocacy work NCI does for the North County community.”
