“The Last Beast in the Sky” Debuts at Wildwood

The Last Beast in the SkyNow through Oct. 3, the community is invited to St. Louis Community College at Wildwood to view, “The Last Beast in the Sky”, an exhibit featuring the work of Kevin M. Wilson.

Located on the third floor, the artwork showcases Wilson's interest in and appreciation for birds.

“Witnessing the striking colors and behavior of the birds that inhabit or migrate through Missouri first-hand is exhilarating, and it definitely inspired me to read and learn much more about birds, their intelligence and their unique abilities,” he said. “While I’ve had a casual interest in animal science since childhood, it wasn’t until 2015 that I decided to take a deeper dive into birding and experienced some of these creatures off the page. Each painting in this exhibit is modeled after a photograph of a bird that I took in the wild.”

Kevin M. WilsonWilson’s connection to STLCC runs deep. Before he was exhibiting his work, he was a student at  STLCC-Forest Park, where he studied art under the guidance of his former professor, Mark Weber. After that, he transferred to Webster University to complete his bachelor’s degree. He then earned a Master of Fine Arts at Fontbonne University.

Since graduate school, Wilson has divided his time between teaching and occasionally making art. Today, he is now focused on making art and only occasionally teaching.

The public is invited to explore the exhibit in the Gallery of Contemporary Art at STLCC-Wildwood, 2645 Generations Drive, or by visiting the gallery’s webpage.
