St. Louis Community College and Propel Kitchens are partnering together to prepare students for entry-level employment in a food service environment. Our students achieve transferable skills and acquire better quality culinary opportunities for every role they explore.

The curriculum covers:

  • Basic sanitation
  • Product and equipment identification
  • Stewarding operations
  • Cooking prepared foods
  • Grill and fast-food preparation
  • Cold food preparation
  • Baking

In just 16 weeks, earn valuable certifications for your career in food services.

This specialized training concentrates on specific areas needed by entry-level food service operations employees. A 100-hour workplace learning experience further reinforces academic foundations in a supervised culinary environment.

Our Culinary Training Program is designed for those who have an interest, or who may have had previous work experience in, the culinary field at any level. It elevates the knowledge of those with previous experience while also catering to the novice who has little to no previous experience.

Industry Certifications:

  • ServSafe Food Handler
  • American Culinary Federation (ACF) – Certified Fundamental Cook (CFC)

Employment Opportunities

Students who successfully complete the program will be given the opportunity to obtain full-time employment with competitive market wages from Bon Appetit and other commercial food operators.

Prerequisites

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet these prerequisites:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
