Job Shadowing Information
Prior to applying to the Radiologic Technology program offered at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, a student must complete 8 hours of job shadowing in the general radiology department (x-ray) of a hospital. Time spent in other imaging modalities such as C.T., MRI, ultrasound, etc., should be minimal. This experience must be documented on the attached form and submitted upon application to the program.
- The 8 hours of shadowing may be done at one time, or at 2 different hospitals, 4 hours at each facility, if the student prefers. Complete a separate job shadowing form for each visit.
- The student arranges this on their own by contacting the human resources department of the hospital of their choice.
- Shadowing at clinics, physician offices, outpatient centers, surgery centers, etc. will not be accepted because the purpose of this experience is to expose students to the environment they will encounter throughout the program.
- If shadowing at a children’s hospital, only 4 hours will be accepted. The remaining 4 hours would need to be completed at a non-pediatric hospital.
- Shadowing may take place at any hospital. Here are a few options:
