Radiologic Technology Job Shadowing Information

Prior to applying to the Radiologic Technology program that we offer here at St. Louis Community College, a prospective student must complete eight hours of job shadowing in the general radiology department (x-ray) of a hospital. Time spent in other imaging modalities, such as C.T., MRI, ultrasound, etc., should be minimal. You must document this experience on the attached form and submit it upon application to the program.

  • You may do the eight hours of shadowing at one time, or at two different hospitals, four hours at each facility, if you prefer. Complete a separate job shadowing form for each visit.
  • You may arrange this on your own by contacting the human resources department of the hospital of your choice.
  • We will not accept shadowing at clinics, physician offices, outpatient centers, surgery centers, etc. because the purpose of this experience is to expose students to the environment they will encounter throughout the program.
  • If shadowing at a children’s hospital, we will only accept four hours. You would need to complete the remaining four hours at a non-pediatric hospital.
  • You must complete job shadowing documentation within three years of applying and submitting the program application.
  • Shadowing may take place at any hospital. Here are a few options:
