Respiratory Care Bachelor Program Requirements Checklist
Student must have successfully completed all requirements listed below prior to applying to the bachelor of science in respiratory care (BSRC) program.
- Apply to STLCC as a degree-seeking student
- Send transcripts
- Official College Transcripts: An official transcript from each college attended must be sent directly from the college attended to STLCC-Registrar’s Office, 5600 Oakland Avenue, St. Louis, 63110 or email: csr@stlcc.edu. Hand carried or faxed transcripts will NOT be accepted.
- Minimum Cumulative GPA: Students must have a GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or higher for 30 college work required
for entry into the BSRC professional program (100 level or higher). These courses
are listed in #4.
- 2.5 GPA MUST be maintained while on the waiting list.
- Completion of 30 hours of General Education Coursework
A minimum of 30 hours of coursework must be completed with "C" or higher grades prior to submitting an application to the BSRC program. Another 30 credit hours must then be completed with "C" or higher grades prior to entry into the professional program (junior year).
- Written & Oral Communications
- 6 credits of Core 42 English - ENG 101, 102, or 103
- 3 credits of Core 42 Oral Communications - COM 107 or 101
- Social and Behavioral Sciences/Civics
- 3 credits - SOC 101 OR COM 2003 credits - PSY 200
- 3 credits - Civics requirement (HST 101, 102 , 137 , 138 or PSC 101)
- Science: all courses must be completed with "C" or higher grades
- 5 credits - CHM 101 or CHM 105 (must be completed within 5 years of application)
- 4 credits - BIO 111 or BIO 140
- 4 credits - BIO 207 Anatomy & Physiology I
- 4 credits - BIO 208 Anatomy & Physiology II (must be completed within 5 years of application
- Math: all courses must be completed with "C" or higher grades. One of the two required
math courses must have been completed within 5 years of application.
- 3 credits - MTH 180
- 3 credits - MTH 160
- Core 42 Humanities/Fine Arts Electives - all courses must be completed with "C" or
higher grades
- 9 credits required
- Health Sciences: all courses must be completed with "C" or higher grades
- 3 credits - HIM 101 Medical Terminology
- 3 credits - PHL 109 Biomedical Ethics
- Written & Oral Communications
When the above criteria have been met, students must meet with an advisor to obtain a Respiratory Care - BS Program application. Once processed, the student's major will be changed to the BSRC major and the remaining general education courses (to total 60 hours) must be completed with "C" or higher grades and a minimum GPA of 2.5 to start the professional RC coursework.
