College Radio Broadcasting: Go On Air with Your Ideas
KCFV-FM “The Wave” is a student-run 100-watt radio station that has served the St. Louis community since 1972. This hands-on opportunity allows you to gain real-world experience in broadcasting, audio production and digital media while sharing your ideas and creativity on-air.

Students who join KCFV-FM learn to:
- Record, edit and produce audio content for radio shows, podcasts and live broadcasts.
- Schedule and manage programming, developing time management and organizational skills.
- Develop an on-air presence and build confidence speaking to a live audience.
- Engage with the campus and local community, producing content that informs, entertains and inspires listeners.
Joining KCFV-FM is a perfect way to gain professional broadcasting experience, strengthen your portfolio and connect with mentors and peers. Students can earn practical skills that translate to careers in radio, media production, journalism and communications.

Magazines and Literary Journals: Submit Your Creative Work
Share your stories, creative writing and visual work with the campus community. STLCC’s student magazines and literary publications give you a platform to express yourself through writing, art and design. These publications provide opportunities for students of all experience levels to get published in college, helping you grow your skills and showcase your work.
Currents Magazine
- Open to current Meramec students.
- Accepts: Poetry, fiction, plays, creative essays, artwork

The Forest Literary Journal
- Open to current Forest Park students.
- Accepts: Poetry (up to 40 lines), fiction, creative nonfiction, plays (up to 1,000 words), artwork (up to 5 pieces, 300 dpi)

Sycamore
- Open to current Wildwood students.
- Accepts: Poetry (up to 40 lines), fiction or creative nonfiction (up to 2,000 words), plays (up to 2,000 words), artwork

How to Submit Your Work
Follow these guidelines to submit your work to STLCC’s student publications.
Written Work:
- Include a cover page with your name, a short third-person bio (up to 100 words) including your major and inspiration, the genre(s), and title(s) of your work. Add page numbers.
- Submit as a Word document (.doc or .docx) to your campus magazine’s email.
- Use a clear subject line like “Submission: [Title] – [Your Name]” and check your work for spelling, grammar and formatting.
Artwork:
- Submit up to five pieces, one image per work.
- Files must be high resolution (300 dpi) for print quality.
- Send as an email attachment in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF format, including the title of each piece in the email body.
Following these steps ensures your writing or artwork is professionally presented and ready for publication in STLCC’s student magazines and literary journals.
