Nearly 900 St. Louis Community College graduates, joined by family and friends, gathered at Chaifetz Arena to celebrate a historic milestone: the largest graduating class in the College's more than 60-year history.
The annual commencement ceremony honored students who earned certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees. In total, 2,779 students graduated from STLCC as part of the Class of 2026.
"We celebrate not only the remarkable achievements of our 2026 graduates, but also the legacy of more than 1.3 million St. Louis Community College students who have attended over the past 64 years," said Jeff L. Pittman, PhD, STLCC chancellor. "Many of these alumni are here with us tonight, supporting our graduates as parents, spouses, family and friends."
Student Speaker LuLu McGowan Inspires Class of 2026
Continuing STLCC's tradition of selecting a graduate to serve as commencement speaker, the College chose LuLu McGowan, a general studies major from the Forest Park campus, to address graduates and guests.
McGowan, who also serves as international president of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, encouraged her classmates to push beyond their dreams and work toward fulfilling their aspirations. She plans to transfer to a four-year university in the fall.

In addition to the commencement speaker, the College also selects a student marshal to represent their campus. Aaliyah Leggs, who earned her bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy, represented the Florissant Valley campus. Abigail Bohlmann, an interior design major, was selected for the Meramec campus.
The ceremony highlighted the perseverance, achievement and future promise of STLCC graduates, many of whom will continue their education, enter the workforce or advance in their chosen careers.
