Dr. Rob Lee

St. Louis Community College has appointed Rob Lee, PhD, as the new associate vice chancellor of the Employer and Workforce Solutions division. A 25-year veteran of STLCC, Lee brings an exceptional combination of academic expertise, proven leadership and a demonstrated ability to forge meaningful community partnerships.

A Homegrown Leader with Deep Roots

Lee's journey with STLCC began in 1999 when he joined the faculty at the STLCC-Meramec campus as a member of the history/humanities department. Holding a doctorate in American Studies from St. Louis University, he brings interdisciplinary training that has shaped his approach to problem-solving, one that transcends traditional silos and embraces collaboration. This perspective will prove invaluable as Employer and Workforce Solutions partners with diverse industries to meet the region's evolving employment needs.

Throughout his faculty career, Lee demonstrated his commitment to institutional excellence by serving on district-wide cross-functional teams, completing the Chancellor's Leadership Academy, and advancing through roles as assistant chair and department chair. These experiences gave him a comprehensive understanding of how STLCC operates, knowledge that will strengthen connections between academic programs and workforce demands.

Proven Results in Building Partnerships

In 2023, Lee was selected as the first dean and director of STLCC South County, where he was charged with growing enrollment and establishing the campus as a community hub. The results speak for themselves: enrollment has tripled in just three years. Under his leadership, the LPN program has flourished, meeting critical healthcare workforce needs, and the College's esports team has launched successfully, demonstrating his ability to identify emerging opportunities and act decisively.

Most notably, Lee's work cultivating community stakeholder relationships resulted in several new partnerships that benefit both students and local organizations. This talent for connecting educational programs with community needs translates directly to his new role, where building bridges between STLCC and regional employers will be critical.

A Vision for Employer and Workforce Solutions

As associate vice chancellor, Lee will lead efforts to position STLCC as the St. Louis region's essential workforce partner. Employers seeking customized training, talent pipelines, and upskilling solutions will find a responsive, innovative collaborator in Lee and his team.

"Dr. Lee's track record of tripling enrollment through strategic partnerships demonstrates exactly the kind of entrepreneurial thinking our Employer and Workforce Solutions division needs," said Jeff L. Pittman, PhD, chancellor of STLCC. "His deep institutional knowledge, combined with his ability to engage external stakeholders, makes him the ideal leader for this critical role. I look forward to the partnerships, programs and opportunities his leadership will bring to our students, our College and our community.”
