Intermediate to Advanced English Skills to Prepare for College Classes

English for Multilingual Learners (EML) is a college-credit program with tuition costs. It is designed for students with intermediate to advanced English skills who want to prepare for college-level work.

In order to enroll in EML courses, students must first receive a recommendation from an EML placement coordinator by taking a placement evaluation. The EML placement evaluation is for non-native speakers of English who want to take college-credit EML classes at STLCC. The evaluation helps place students in the right EML course level before they register.

Current EML Course Offerings

EML classes focus on academic English. Students improve the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills needed for success in college courses. After successfully completing the program, students are prepared for English Composition I (ENG 101) and other college-level classes.

If you are a beginner English learner or want free English classes for daily life and work, English as a Second Language (ESL) may be a better place to start.
