Certificate of Specialization (CS)
Offered through Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
@ Forest Park | Meramec
This certificate is designed for students seeking skills to qualify for positions as a web developer. The program was developed to include topics that will build the programming and database skills a web developer needs in order to build and maintain a corporation’s website. Emphasis is placed upon object-oriented languages that are frequently used for the Internet and intranets. The courses provide students with both the theoretical and technical knowledge and practical hands-on experience to be successful in the high demand web developer occupation.
The recommended academic plan blends general education requirements with options for areas of concentration to ensure students get the most out of their certificate or degree.
This Certificate Program is associated with the Software Developer AAS Program.
Important qualities of a web developer
- Concentration. Web developers must sit at a computer and write detailed code for long periods.
- Creativity. Web developers often are involved in designing the appearance of a website and must make sure that it is appealing as well as functional.
- Customer-service skills. Webmasters have to respond politely and correctly to user questions and requests.
- Detail oriented. Web developers need to have an eye for detail, because a minor error in coding could cause an entire webpage to stop working.
