Design Your Path with STLCC’s Graphic Design Programs

Bring your ideas to life with St. Louis Community College's graphic communications programs. Choose the associate in applied science (AAS) to prepare for a career or the associate in fine arts (AFA) to continue your education at a four-year art or design program.

Along the way, you'll build creative and technical skills and create a portfolio through projects in graphic design, typography, web and interactive design, illustration and motion graphics.

What is Graphic Communications at St. Louis Community College?

Graphic communications combines creativity, technology and visual storytelling to help students turn ideas into effective designs. At STLCC, students learn how to create visual materials such as logos, advertisements, websites, digital media and other forms of communication while developing skills in design, illustration, typography and multimedia.

STLCC offers two graphic communications degree options based on your goals:

  • Associate in applied science (AAS): prepares students for entry-level careers in graphic design and visual communication.
  • Associate in fine arts (AFA): provides a strong foundation for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to continue studying art or design.

Through both programs, students build creative and technical skills while exploring areas such as graphic and interactive design or illustration and animation.
