Keep Vehicles Road-Ready with Auto Safety Inspection Training
Build in-demand skills with St. Louis Community College's automotive vehicle inspection program. This maintenance and light repair (MLR) training prepares you to inspect vehicles, perform basic service tasks and understand Missouri safety inspection requirements.
Through hands-on training, you'll practice common shop procedures such as fluid checks, basic steering and suspension inspections and alignment evaluations. You'll build the skills needed to spot vehicle problems, support routine maintenance and work safely in a shop setting.
After completing the program, you'll be prepared to earn an inspection license, take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) G1 certification exam and apply for entry-level roles in vehicle service and inspection.
What is Automotive Vehicle Inspection at St. Louis Community College?
The automotive vehicle inspection and light maintenance program prepares you for entry-level roles in vehicle service, quick lube and automotive repair. You'll learn how to inspect vehicles, perform basic maintenance tasks and spot common problems that affect vehicle safety and performance.
You'll learn to:
- Safely lift and support vehicles using drive-on and two-post lifts.
- Follow shop safety practices, including proper waste handling and organization.
- Inspect automotive fluids and evaluate vehicle conditions.
- Examine suspension, chassis and brake components using Missouri inspection guidelines.
- Service tires and wheel assemblies, including repairs, replacements and balancing.
- Reprogram Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
- Replace worn steering and suspension components.
This program helps you build the shop-ready skills needed to begin working in automotive service while preparing you for the ASE G1 certification and other industry credentials.
