Expanded Function Dental Assistant: Restorative II
Learn the techniques and concepts of restorative and preventative expanded function procedures delegated to dental assistants in the state of Missouri, as specified in the rules and regulations set forth in the Missouri Practice Act. Upon successful completion, be able to explain the rationale, principles and procedures and perform placing, carving and finishing of Class I, II, III, IV, V and VI restorations.
Prerequisites required at the time of registration for dental assistants: certification as a certified dental assistant from the Dental Assisting National Board or proof of competence that the dental assistant has passed the Board’s Missouri Test of Basic Dental Assisting Skills and proof of current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS). Dental hygienists: while neither a Missouri basic skills test nor certification in dental assisting is required for a dental hygienist to take expanded functions courses, evidence of current certification in the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS), or the equivalent certification approved by the Missouri Dental Board, must be provided. Online-only courses will not be accepted to satisfy the BLS requirement. These documents must be emailed to email@example.com for authorization to register. Pre-course e-learning is required and included in the course fee.
The student must bring instruments, (e.g. special carving, handpieces, and matrices), protective eyewear, examination gloves, face mask and a lab jacket for lab practice.
