Artful Saturdays

Enjoy three Saturday mornings virtually exploring art history. Led by a local art historian, you’ll experience a specific theme each weekend: Leonardo da Vinci: Renaissance Man, March 13; El Greco Master of Mannerism, March 20; Velasquez and Zurbaran: Two Painters From Seville, March 27.

Drawing

Drawing: Beginning/Intermediate

Beginning students learn the tools, materials and artistic perceptions essential to drawing. Returning students will continue to sharpen skills through class projects or independent work. Drawing fundamentals such as line, perspective, value and composition are covered. Students will use pencil, Conté crayon and charcoal.

Drawing With Color Pastels

Botanical Illustration: Colored Pencils

During this colored pencil course focused on the plant kingdom as subject matter, you’ll learn about antique styles and finding inspiration to create contemporary pieces using modern methods. Right Brain Drawing

Learn ways to tap into the right side of your brain for creative projects! Drawing exercises utilize the more creative, less analytical hemisphere to unleash your potential artist. Travel Drawing

See St. Louis through the eyes of a traveler! Whether a longtime resident or a newcomer, this basic drawing class will explore elements of drawing such as sketching, figure gestures, perspective, landscape, value and composition through on-site drawing experiences at locations around St. Louis City. Drawing materials range from pen, ink and watercolor to pencil. Students will learn through demos, hands-on experience and feedback sessions. Lessons are tailored to the level of students. This course emphasizes building a sense of community. By the end of class, you’ll take away multiple skills you can use in during your own travels, both in and out of St. Louis. Supplies and locations will be discussed during the first class, which will meet for an hour via Zoom. Prerequisite: Students must be able to walk 15 minutes at a time.

This course is for the experienced painter. Class will focus on artists who want to paint for fun, relaxation or have a goal of eventually selling paintings. BYOB Painting

Enjoy your own favorite beverage to sip as you paint a maybe-masterpiece on stretched canvas during this fun, one-evening class! No previous art experience is required. Pet Portraits: Acrylic

Celebrate your pet or someone else’s pet with a unique portrait painting. (This portrait could make a great gift!) Learn techniques to achieve proper proportions, animal likeness and realistic textures (e.g. fur, feathers). Bring reference photos of the pet you wish to paint.
