Scholarships for Honors Students
Forest Park Honors program scholarships are available to qualifying students. Scholarships cover 12 credit hours at the in-district rate per semester and are renewable. The deadline to apply is the last Friday of April. The Forest Park Honors Committee reviews each application; awards are announced in July. To obtain and maintain scholarships, students must take their classes at Forest Park throughout the semesters that they receive their awards. Scholarship funds are not transferable to other campuses or institutions.
Current High School Seniors or Recent High School Graduates
Currently enrolled high school seniors or high school graduates of the last five years are invited to apply for Forest Park Honors program scholarships. Applicants must rank in the upper 20 percent of their class and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The following must be sent to the Forest Park Honors Program office to apply for the scholarship:
- Documentation of admission to Forest Park
- Official high school transcript(s) showing class rank
- Completed Forest Park Honors program scholarship requirements form and Application
- Two letters of recommendation from high school faculty attached to the scholarship application
- A typed, double-spaced, 300-word essay stating the applicant’s personal and career goals
Current College Students, High School Graduates of More Than Five Years or Other Qualified Students
Returning, transferring or other qualified students may apply for the Forest Park Honors program scholarships. To qualify, a student must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale from Forest Park or other institutions. Students who have no college GPA may substitute for this requirement either high scores on national tests or evidence of equivalent academic performance. The following must be sent to the Forest Park Honors program office to apply for the scholarship:
- Documentation of admission to Forest Park
- Official transcript(s) of college work to date or evidence of national test scores or other evidence of academic performance
- Completed Forest Park Honors program scholarship requirements form and application
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty or others qualified to comment on academic performance
- A typed, double-spaced, 300-word essay stating the applicant’s personal and career goals
