The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student’s preparedness for entering the health science fields.
What is the TEAS and how long does it take?

How can I prepare for the TEAS?
You can and should prepare for the TEAS Test.
- The 2022-2023 Official ATI TEAS Study Manual contains content review and practice tests. Study manuals are available for purchase on the ATI website and is also available for use at all STLCC libraries (ask at the circulation desk). Practice questions are included in the manual.
- Online TEAS Practice Tests, ATI TEAS SmartPrep and TEAS Basic Packages are available for purchase through the ATI website.
- The TEAS exam includes reading, math, science especially A&P, and English and language
use. Courses/program prerequisites you may want to consider completing prior to taking
the TEAS exam to increase your chance of achieving a composite score at or above the
required benchmark of 58.7% include:
- Met the reading prerequisite
- Met the math prerequisite
- Completed ENG 101
- Completed CHM 101
- Completed BIO 207 and/or BIO 208
When will I receive my results?
Results are available online at the conclusion of the test. Detailed results may be accessed through your ATI account.
What if I don’t meet the TEAS Benchmark Score?
- Students scoring below the suggested 58.7%, do not satisfy the STLCC nursing program TEAS preadmission requirement. Students may take the TEAS three times in a 12-month period. Students must wait 30 days between attempts. During the waiting period students are strongly encouraged to remediate. A focused review is available in your ATI account. STLCC will not accept test scores taken prior to the end of the 30-day waiting period, regardless of the score obtained or location of the test.
- Nursing retention coaches are available to discuss your results and help you design a remediation plan. If you plan to retest and would like to meet, please contact a nursing retention coach. Email communication is preferred.
