Financial Services Education Center
The Financial Services Education Center will be a one-stop shop for student services, including advising, financial aid, and enrollment, plus host integrated technology classrooms and the testing center. Other features include:
- Welcoming places to take a break between classes or study with a lounge area, private study bays and collaboration spaces
- Modern, innovative classrooms and an entrepreneurial center offer business and accounting students hands-on learning opportunities and real-life experiences
- Inclusive spaces to meet student and employee needs, including gender-neutral bathrooms, lactation and meditation rooms

Drywall Install and Power Prep
Oct. 2024—Electrical gear was installed in preparation for permanent power. Work continued on rough-ins for electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Contractors continued installing brick, wrapping up on the south side in late October. Contractors also worked on drywall throughout the building.
Brickwork Progresses
Sept. 2024—Brickwork and windows were completed on the north side before continuing brick installation on the west side. Contractors continued framing rooms throughout the building. They also continued installing ductwork, piping for plumbing, and wires for electrical.
Brickwork Begins
Aug. 2024—Contractors made significant progress with window installation on the building. They also continued with interior framing, ductwork, and rough-ins for plumbing and electrical. Exterior brickwork kicked off in the second half of the month.
Interior Framing and Windows
July 2024—Interior wall framing started on the second and third floors while wrapping up on the first floor. Contractors completed waterproofing and vapor barrier installation. They also worked on installing windows on the north side of the building.
Framing and Waterproofing
June 2024—Glass arrived and framing began for contractors to work on the nonstructural curtain wall. They also continued waterproofing the exterior in preparation for brick and started wall framing on the first floor. Framing on the second floor will kick off in early July.
Exterior Framing and Drywall Begins
June 2024—In early June, the building's stairs were installed. Contractors started work on exterior framing and drywall installation. They also worked on the roof decking and continued mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, including a new water pump and piping.
Concrete Completed
May 2024—In late May, concrete pouring was completed, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors started installing their respective systems for the building.
Concrete Pouring Begins
May 2024—In early May, contractors poured concrete for half of the first and second floors in the Financial Services Education Center. Work also continued on welding stud levels and installing the main piping for the chilled and hot water systems going to each building.
Steel Superstructures Completed
April 2024—A milestone was hit in the second week of April as contractors finished installing the framework for the two buildings' superstructures. Afterward, they moved on to installing decking in preparation for concrete. Other progress included grouting columns, installing underground piping for water and convenience power, and plumbing work.
Beam Signing and Placement
March 2024—In late March, project partners, students, employees and even alumni added their signatures to a significant support beam before watching contractors ceremonially place it. It will be installed in its forever home in early April.
Steel Erection Progresses
March 2024—Steel erection quickly progressed throughout March as contractors completed three stories of framework for the eastern half of Financial Services Education Center. Brick supports and knife plate installation are also in progress.
Steel Installation Begins
Feb. 2024—Contractors spent the first half of February prepping the construction site for the new buildings. Steel beams and a crane started arriving on Feb. 22, just in time to begin steel installation the last week of the month.
CN Door Completed
Jan. 2024—With nicer weather at the end of the month, contractors completed the new door, window and stucco work at the south entrance into Communications North.
Footing Installation Begins
Jan. 2024—Contractors installed lime to stabilize the soil. They also started to dig and pour footings for both new buildings as well as sleeves for utilities and underground piping.
Library Demo Continues
Dec. 2023—The new Science South ramp is scheduled to open mid-month. Library demolition will continue through late December.
CS Demo and BA Slab Removal
Nov. 2023—Demolition of Communications South and the bridge between the two communications buildings was completed. The library demo is halfway complete. Business Administration's slab removal also began to make way for the footings and foundations of the new buildings.
BA Demo Complete
Oct. 2023—Demolition on Business Administration was completed. Contractors closed off the bridge between the two communications buildings in preparation for its demolition following the demo of Communications South.
Demo Begins
Sept. 2023—The demolition phase began with removing the interior walls of Business Administration.
Groundbreaking
Sept. 2023—St. Louis Community College at Meramec broke ground on the Financial Services
Education Center and the Center for Emerging Technology on Friday, Sept. 8.
Fencing Installed
Aug. 2023—Fencing was installed around Business Administration, Meramec Library and Communications South in preparation for the upcoming demolition.
