Q&A with Graham
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I’m in sixth grade.
Q: What is your favorite subject right now and why?
A: I like language arts, science and history. I have great teachers, and I’m learning a lot.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I love animals and science. When I grow up, my dream is to work as a marine biologist.
Q: How do you hope to impact—or transform—your community with your dream career?
A: It’s important to take care of our planet so we have a healthy environment for humans and animals. Right now, as a kid, I’m trying to do my part to keep the oceans clean by focusing on reducing waste. When I’m older, I hope to make a bigger impact through my work as a marine biologist and caring for animals that live in the ocean.
Q: Why are you interested in taking classes at a community college?
A: I know I will need to take A LOT of science courses if I want to become a marine biologist. If I start at a community college, I can take some classes close to home and save money.
Q: What do you think about students who choose to take college classes while still in high school through our Early College/dual enrollment program? Do you plan to follow in their footsteps?
A: I want to work with animals, but I also want to explore many other areas. As I look to the future, I hope to take some college courses in high school to get ahead on my four-year degree.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: It’s exciting to see the construction work that’s going on [as part of STLCC Transformed]. The new buildings are going to be so cool!
