How to Apply as an F-1 Visa Student
- Start or continue your STLCC free application.
- Submit official transcripts from secondary school and all colleges/universities. Transcripts must be sent via postal mail directly from the school. All transcripts that are not in English must be professionally translated and sent directly from the translator to STLCC. A translator the College often uses is World Education Services. Translations must include full course titles, final grades and explanation of grading system.
- Submit proof of English proficiency:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 79 iBT taken within the past two years. STLCC code: 6225.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 6.5 or higher.
- Mail transcripts and English proficiency score reports to the address below, all caps
are required.

USA - Submit financial documents: Certification of finances and bank statement (less than six months old) showing funds to cover one academic year ($18,432).
- Provide a copy of your passport (photo, name, date of birth). The certification of finances and passport photocopy may be sent via email.
After you have submitted all the required documents, we will send you an acceptance letter and the Form I-20 that you need to request your F-1 student visa from the U.S. embassy or consulate. A detailed explanation of Form I-20 and the steps on how to apply for the F-1 student visa can be found on the Study in the States website.
Application Deadlines
- Outside the U.S.: Submit all materials 60 days before semester start.
- Inside the U.S.: Submit all materials 30 days before semester start.
Not on an F-1 visa? You may still qualify to enroll in classes at STLCC. Some visas allow part-time or non-degree-seeking study. Contact enrollment services for more information.
