STLCC Incident Response Team COVID-19 Case Management

STLCC is working hard to protect our students, faculty & staff, and the greater STL community by adhering to the latest Center for Disease Control (CDC) standards for COVID-19. We have also set up a special COVID-19 Incident Response team to handle any COVID-19 positive cases at the college.

How STLCC Responds to COVID-19 Cases at the College

STLCC is in regular communication with both the St. Louis City and County Departments of Public Health and notifies these agencies whenever we are made aware that an individual who was physically present at an STLCC campus or facility has tested positive for COVID-19. For the latest information about COVID-19 from the St. Louis City and St. Louis County Departments of Public Health, visit the appropriate websites [links].

When a Case is Identified

When a positive case of COVID-19 is identified of an individual who was physically present on one of our campuses or facilities, the College initiates its COVID-19 Incident Response Protocol. The protocol is designed to quickly isolate potential secondary exposures and to gather information to support contact tracing by St. Louis City and County Departments of Public Health. The relevant Department of Public Health manages all contact tracing.

The College will contact any employee, student, or other individual known to have been in close contact (as determined by the CDC definition) with a positive case at an STLCC campus or facility. The College may advise contacts to self-quarantine as a precautionary measure while the St. Louis City and County Departments of Public Health undertake the appropriate contact tracing process.

What is “Close Contact”

Close contact is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as “someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.”

As a reminder, all employees who are physically present at an STLCC campus or facility for work should complete the daily COVID-19 health screening, and all members of the STLCC community should monitor for symptoms during the duration of the pandemic.
