The community is invited to view the work of Chris Sagovac in a new exhibit, titled “Chanbaragogo,” in the Gallery of Contemporary Art at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood, 2645 Generations Drive.
The exhibit, on display March 18-May 14, features nearly 20 works of art created with ink on bristol paper.
According to Sagovac, the name “Chanbaragogo” is derived from three words.
- chanbara: sword fighting movies
- gogo: relating to or dealing in popular often speculative investment expected to yield high returns
- agogo: being in a whirl of motion
“I like to take different things, from different places, and make something new yet familiar by putting them together,” he said.
Sagovac is an American independent cartoonist working in animation, comics and game art. He is also an associate professor of animation and chair in the School of Communications at Webster University. (St. Louis, MO).
