Ricky Montgomery Releases Latest Music Video

While many try, only a few make it in the music industry. Despite the odds, singer/songwriter Ricky Montgomery is proving he has what it takes to do just that.

In 2019, the College profiled Montgomery, a 2013 graduate of St. Louis Community College at Wildwood, as part of its “Meet STLCC” series. Since then, Montgomery’s career has been on fire.

In February, he shared news of his big break on social media – a music deal with Warner Records. With that announcement came a reimagined version of his song, “Line Without a Hook,” but with a new twist. Pop singer-songwriter Mxmtoon (aka Maia) joined him on the track.

On June 25, Montgomery celebrated the release of his latest music video, “Talk to You.” 

To commemorate its release, he posted a clip of an acoustic version of the song on TikTok. With it, he included captions that explain his inspiration for the lyrics.

“My new song, ‘Talk to You’, was released today. I wrote it about my dad, who died when I was 15. The 10-year anniversary hit me harder than I expected it to -- like I should’ve already been over it already, but I wasn’t,” he wrote. “I didn’t know any songs about long term grief, so I wrote one. I made the official version happier just for fun, but this version is cool too. I hope you like it!”
