Bench Comes to Wildwood
Monday, May 2, 2022
STLCC-Wildwood is helping raise awareness on how to properly recycle plastic bags and wraps through the 2021-2022 Bags2Bench Tour.
According to S. Carol Lupardus, Ph.D, campus president and chief academic officer, this project aligns perfectly with Wildwood’s commitment to sustainability.
“As a green-energy facility, Wildwood was built with sustainability in mind,” said Lupardus. “While some of our sustainability efforts are very visible on campus, others are less obvious, so it’s wonderful to participate in a program designed to promote recycling.”
Made from approximately 13,500 recycled plastic bags, the visiting bench is part of the Bags2Bench Tour. STLCC-Wildwood is the final college stop for the bench; next month, it will head to the St. Louis Science Center.
The program is part of region-wide Recycle Responsibly educational program sponsored by OneSTL. The touring bench was produced locally by Ranken Technical College, and the prime material of the bench is Trex composite decking. The bench at Wildwood is located near the multipurpose room entrance.
