New Partnership Helps STLCC Students Get Hired

This month, St. Louis Community College is launching Handshake, a new career management tool that aims to help students get hired.

Using this platform, students can receive job and internship recommendations based on their interests, connect with employers in every industry, and network with students and alumni.

According to Jacqueline Meaders-Booth, Ed.D., director of career development and student success, students who choose to create a profile on the platform increase their chances of getting hired fivefold.

“In today’s job market, it’s less about finding work and more about finding a career that fits your lifestyle,” she said. “Whether you want to work in IT or the medical field, pursue an art career or start a business, Handshake can help you get discovered, get connected and get expert help.”

All students have access to Handshake. Students will receive an email encouraging them to activate their account and complete their profiles the week of Dec. 5.
