Fuel Your Future in Diesel Technology

STLCC’s diesel technology programs prepare you for work as a diesel tech or diesel truck mechanic in the medium- and heavy-duty vehicle industry. You’ll gain hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing a wide range of truck systems.

Training includes lab-based learning and on-the-job diesel training using industry-standard tools and equipment. These skills prepare you for entry-level roles at dealerships, fleet maintenance facilities and other vehicle service operations that rely on skilled diesel technicians.

What is Diesel Technology at St. Louis Community College?

Diesel technicians diagnose, repair and maintain diesel engines, which are commonly used in trucks, buses, construction equipment and other heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training, students gain a deep understanding of diesel engine operation, fuel systems, electrical systems and computer diagnostics.

STLCC offers three programs:

  • Associate of applied science (AAS): a comprehensive degree that combines diesel automotive training with general education courses
  • Certificate of proficiency (CP): a comprehensive certificate that focuses on diesel automotive training
  • Certificate of specialization (CS): learn the essential skills needed to perform typical diesel services
