What is Computer Aided Design at St. Louis Community College

Computer aided design is the use of computer software to create detailed and precise 2D or 3D digital models of objects, buildings or mechanical components. CAD technology is widely used in engineering, architecture, product design and various other industries to improve design accuracy and efficiency.

What Can You do with a Computer Aided Design Certificate? 

With a CAD certificate of specialization, you can work as a CAD technician or drafter. In this role, you'll assist engineers, architects or designers in creating technical drawings, 2D or 3D models, and plans for construction, manufacturing or product design projects. 

CAD designers now work in almost every industry, such as landscaping, dentistry, equipment design, architecture, construction and manufacturing. You could be designing things such as granite countertops, machine parts or medical implants, or reverse-engineering other products.
