St. Louis Community College’s industrial maintenance training program prepares you to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot the equipment used in high-tech manufacturing facilities. You'll gain practical skills through hands-on training and learn how to keep everything operating safely and efficiently.
What is the Industrial Maintenance Technician Program at STLCC?
Industrial maintenance technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functionality of commercial and industrial machinery in various settings, including buildings, plants and factories.
With this training, you'll receive hands-on instruction in key areas of industrial maintenance, including:
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
Students will be required to complete online OSHA 10 certification training (outside of regular class hours).
Upon completion, you'll be ready to earn nationally recognized credentials from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) for industrial maintenance technicians.
What Can You Do as an Industrial Maintenance Technician?
Industrial maintenance technicians work in settings such as manufacturing plants,
food processing facilities and distribution centers. The skills you gain will be valuable
across multiple industries, including automotive, aerospace and pharmaceuticals. If
you decide to continue your education, you can apply your experience toward pursuing
an electrical/electronics engineering technology associate of applied science degree.

Requirements
The following requirements must be met for acceptance:
- Must submit required application and paperwork
- High school diploma or GED
- Must complete WorkKeys assessments. WorkKeys is an assessment used by employers and job training programs to determine workplace readiness. Benchmark scores on WorkKeys provide national certification.
- Must complete Manufacturing Portal: Soft Skills Training and Excel for Business
- Resume will be required on the first day of Portal training
