OTA Program Requirements Checklist

Student must have successfully completed all requirements listed below prior to applying to the occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program.

  1. Apply to STLCC as a degree-seeking student
  2. Send transcripts
    • Official College Transcripts: An official transcript from each college attended must be sent directly from the college attended to STLCC-Registrar’s Office, 5600 Oakland Avenue, St. Louis, 63110 or email: csr@stlcc.edu. Hand carried or faxed transcripts will NOT be accepted.
    • High School Transcripts or GED: Required only for students with fewer than 15 hours of college level work or those who have satisfied the science requirements in high school. Current high school students must submit a final high school transcript before applying to the OTA Program.
  3. Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in high school or for 15 hours (minimum) of college work. Students with fewer than 15 hours of college credit must have both a 2.5 GPA in high school and 2.5 GPA in college.
    • GED Applicants: must have 15 hours of (100 level) college credits with a 2.5 GPA.
    • STLCC students with at least 15 college level credits with a 2.5 GPA: will have met this requirement, regardless of the GPA at other colleges.
    • College transfer students with fewer than 15 STLCC credits: must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA in college level credits earned at all colleges attended.
      NOTE: Developmental courses (numbered below 100) will NOT be counted toward the 15 hours of college work and will NOT be included in the GPA for admission to the program.
  4. Reading: Complete one of the following to meet the reading prerequisite
    • Reading ACT score of 18 or higher OR SAT EBRW score of 500 or higher (within the last 3 years).
    • Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 250 or higher on the Reading Portion (within the last 3 years).
    • Demonstrate college-level reading competency.
  5. English: Complete one of the following to meet the english prerequisite
    • English ACT score of 18 or higher OR SAT EBRW score of 500 or higher (within the last 3 years).
    • Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 250 or higher (within the last 3 years) OR high school GPA of 2.6 or higher.
    • Placement into ENG 101 OR completion of ENG 101 will satisfy the English prerequisite.
  6. Math: Complete one of the following to meet the math prerequisite
    • Math ACT score of 19 or higher OR SAT math score of 500 or higher (within the last 3 years).
    • Place into MTH 140 or higher on the Accuplacer (Next Gen) (within the last 3 years).
    • Completion of MTH 140S or higher level math with a “C” or higher.
  7. Science Requirement:
    • BIO 207 Anatomy and Physiology I: completion with a grade of “C” or higher within the last 5 years
  8. Psychology Requirement:
    • PSY 200 General Psychology: completion with a grade of “C” or higher within the last 5 years
  9. When the above criteria have been met, students must submit a separate OTA Program application signed by an student success advisor.
