Paramedic Technology Program Requirements Checklist

Student must have successfully completed all requirements listed below prior to applying to the paramedic technology program.

  1. Apply to STLCC as a degree-seeking student
  2. Send transcripts
    • Official College Transcripts: An official transcript from each college attended must be sent directly from the college attended to STLCC-Registrar’s Office, 5600 Oakland Avenue, St. Louis, 63110 or email: csr@stlcc.edu. Hand carried or faxed transcripts will NOT be accepted.
    • High School Transcripts or GED: Required only for students with fewer than 15 hours of college level work or those who have satisfied the science requirements in high school. Current high school students must submit a final high school transcript to the same address above before applying to the paramedic technology program.
  3. Minimum Cumulative GPA: Students must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5 in order to be placed and remain on the wait list. A 2.5 in high school or for 15 hours (minimum) of college work. Students with fewer than 15 hours of college credit must have both a 2.5 GPA in high school and 2.5 GPA in college.
    • GED Applicants: must have 15 hours of (100 level) college credits with a 2.5 GPA.
    • STLCC students with at least 15 college level credits with a 2.5 GPA: will have met this requirement, regardless of the GPA at other colleges.
    • College transfer students with fewer than 15 STLCC credits: must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA in college level credits earned at all colleges attended.

      NOTE: Developmental courses (numbered below 100) will NOT be counted toward the 15 hours of college work and will NOT be included in the GPA for admission to the program.
  4. Reading: Complete ONE of the following to meet the reading prerequisite
    • Composite ACT score of 18 or higher or SAT verbal score of 500 or higher
    • Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 250 or higher or Accuplacer (Classic) score of 77 or higher or Compass score of 82 or higher on the Reading Portion
    • Completion of RDG 030 or ENG 070 with a “C” or higher
    • Completion of a 3-credit hour course (100 level or higher) with a “C” or higher from a US accredited institution.
  5. English: Complete ONE of the following to meet the English prerequisite
    • Composite ACT score of 18 or higher or SAT verbal score of 500 or higher
    • Accuplacer (Next Gen) score of 250 or higher or Accuplacer (Classic) score of 83 or higher or Compass score of 70 or higher on the Writing Skills Portion
    • Completion of ENG 030 with a “C” or higher
  6. Math: Complete ONE of the following to meet the math prerequisite
    • Math ACT score of 19-21 or higher or SAT math score of 580 or higher
    • Place into MTH:140 or higher on the Accuplacer (Next Gen or Classic) or Compass Math Index score of 700
    • Completion of MTH 050 or higher-level math with a “C” or higher
  7. Pre-Admission Test: A score of 75% or greater is required. You must present a valid State of Missouri EMTB license to take the paramedic pretest. You will have two attempt to complete the test.   8. State of Missouri EMT-B License: current copy.
  9. American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card: current copy.
  10. Two Letters of Recommendation from an EMS supervisor, medical director or emergency department physician, emergency department nurse, or an EMT instructor.
  11. Documentation of Patient Care Experience: Either current enrollment in, or completion of EMT 122 Internship class, or verified documentation of 100 EMS class or 100 hours of patient care experience involving assessment and treatment. Verification must be made on appropriate letterhead signed by the service provider supervisor and listing beginning and ending (or through) dates. This is separate from the letters of recommendation.
  12. Interview: To be scheduled. Please see the program coordinator for dates. 
  13. When all academic and paramedic criteria have been met, students must submit a separate paramedic technology program application, signed by an advisor, and returned in person to the Steven Newcomb at snewcomb@stlcc.edu at the Forest Park Campus. Mailed or faxed applications will NOT be accepted. See the program coordinator to obtain a paramedic technology program application.
