The network engineering program provides students with an accelerated career pathway, stackable certificates and programs and industry-recognized credentials. With this network engineering degree, students will be prepared for apprentice-level networking positions.

Important qualities of a network engineer

  • Customer-service skills. Computer support specialists must be patient and sympathetic. They often help people who are
    frustrated with the software or hardware they are trying to use.
  • Listening skills. Support workers must be able to understand the problems that their customers are describing and know when to ask questions to clarify the situation.
  • Problem-solving skills. Support workers must identify both simple and complex computer problems, analyze them, and solve them.
  • Speaking skills. Support workers must describe the solutions to computer problems in a way that a nontechnical person can understand.
  • Writing skills. Strong writing skills are useful for preparing instructions and email responses for employees and customers, as
    well as for real-time web chat interactions.

Stackable: Once you earn your network engineering certificate of specialization, all of the credits apply toward your network engineering AAS with the server focus. In addition, if you’ve earned a certificate of specialization in IT Help Desk/End User Support, 17 of your credits will apply toward your network engineering AAS degree.

Students who take the Cisco Networking Academy coursework become a member of the Cisco online community, with alumni access to online resources that include job postings, free seminars, etc.

Hands-on learning experiences in dedicated labs and classrooms, featuring a one-to-one equipment ratio, the optimal experience for skill development.

You must earn at least a “C” in certain courses to move on to the next course.

Students

More than one million students have attended STLCC. It’s the largest institute of higher education in the region and the second largest in Missouri.

Classes are taught by seasoned instructors, including Cisco Certified professors.

Hands on Learning

STLCC offers dedicated labs and classrooms, featuring a one-to-one equipment ratio, the optimal experience for skill development. Labs are also custom-built to teach the Cisco curriculum and other advanced network technologies.

Flexible Scheduling

Online courses are available, as well as intensive classroom-based, hands-on skill development. With evening and Saturday classes, this program is specially geared for students with full-time jobs.
