Library Services and Borrowing Policies

The STLCC libraries are your resource for tools and services that support your learning. Borrow books, check out laptops, reserve study spaces and more.

Services to Support Your Learning

Need textbooks, laptops or a place to study? STLCC's libraries have all that and more. We're here to provide the resources and space you need to stay on top of your work and reach your academic goals. Our services include:

  • Borrow materials: Textbooks, books and other resources for your coursework.
  • Use campus technology: Laptops, computers and tech tools for checkout or in-library use.
  • Request items from other libraries: Access materials beyond our collection through interlibrary loans.
  • Find study spaces: Quiet individual areas and collaborative group spaces.

Course Reserves

Interlibrary Loan

If a book or article isn’t available through STLCC or MOBIUS, you can request it through interlibrary loan. This service gives you access to materials from libraries beyond our network.

Before submitting a request, check if the item is already available at STLCC. Use ArcherSearch to find resources from the library catalog and a wide range of databases. If you find the item you need, you can request to have it delivered to your campus library.

If the book isn't available through ArcherSearch, try searching MOBIUS next.

For more help, see our Borrowing From Other Libraries FAQs.

Using Campus Technology

Access computers, printers and other devices across campus to help you succeed in your courses.

Booking Study Rooms

Need a quiet space to focus or a spot to meet with classmates? Study rooms are available to reserve for both individual and group work. Each campus library has a limited number of rooms, so it's a good idea to book ahead when possible.

  • The OneCard is your library card and is required to checkout all library materials, including laptops.
  • Books, CDs and sound recordings can be checked out for 28 days. Students may have up to 30 books checked out at the same time.
  • Videos and DVDs may be checked out for seven days, unless placed on reserve by faculty members. The number of items that can be checked out at the same time varies by campus.
  • Loan periods for materials placed on reserve vary by item and campus.  Loan periods are determined by the instructor who placed the item on reserve.
  • Laptop computers are available for LIBRARY USE ONLY for periods of two hours, 28 days, or all semester, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Renewing Items

Books, CDs, sound recordings and some videos and DVDs may be renewed up to five times. You may renew your checked-out materials online, or you may call or visit the circulation desk of any of the St. Louis Community College campus libraries.

Overdue Fines

STLCC does not charge daily fines for overdue materials. However, a bill for the replacement cost of an unreturned item will be sent to the student after they have already received two overdue notices. If the material is not returned or paid, students lose their library privileges and may not be able to receive their grades, enroll in classes or have their transcripts sent to other institutions.

Lost or Damaged Items

All borrowers are required to pay the replacement cost for each lost or damaged item. For books borrowed from other MOBIUS libraries, there will be an additional non-refundable $25 processing fee.

Refunds for Materials Lost and Paid

A full refund will be given for STLCC materials that are returned within one year. There are no refunds for lost and paid materials after one year.
