The photography associate in fine arts (AFA) degree focuses on printing techniques, visual analysis and various photography genres. This program offers a studio arts foundation and teaches camera operation, image production techniques, photographic field work and discusses the history of the medium.
Graduates are also positioned to transfer to a four-year college or university art program.
What is Photography at St. Louis Community College?
STLCC's photography associate in fine arts degree program offers students an opportunity to explore a range of methods for making pictures, including digital platforms and formats, analog recording, darkroom printing and the process of digital print papers. The program approaches the craft in a way that allows you to build a personal photography style while developing skills in the medium.
What Can You Do with a Photography Associate in Fine Arts Degree?
The photography AFA degree provides a foundation of study in the discipline, which can be transferred to a four-year college or university art program. Within this degree, you will build a strong portfolio of images that you can apply to entry-level positions in the photography field. You can pursue several areas of the discipline, such as event photography, photojournalism, portrait photography, real estate photography or working as a studio assistant.
