Grow Your Career in Cannabis

STLCC is at the forefront of education in this new and growing industry. The certificate of specialization (CS) in cannabis and hemp production affords students the opportunity to learn the specialized processes necessary to grow, manage and cultivate cannabis and hemp plants using industrial hemp in accordance with state and federal laws.

The certificate will equip students with the knowledge necessary to gain employment in this high-demand segment of the agriculture and horticulture industries.

What is the Cannabis and Hemp Production Program at St. Louis Community College?

Cannabis and hemp production is both a science and an art, where students learn the growth cycle of the vegetative and flowering stages of the plant as well as determine the relative levels of different cannabinoids and potential chemical contaminants.

In a hands-on environment, students learn current methods of propagation, integrated pest management and greenhouse production management practices.

Students also engage in solvent-based, solventless and modern extraction methods using synthetic and biological products along with learning how to synthesize the different types of chemical products that can be produced in a laboratory.
