Registration Frequently Asked Questions
What classes should I take?
Run a degree audit and check your academic plan to view your progress towards requirements and completion. If you need help, contact your student success advisor.
How do I find prerequisites for classes?
You can find the prerequisites for classes in our course catalog.
How do I satisfy a prerequisite?
To satisfy a prerequisite, you must have:
- Completed or be currently enrolled in the prerequisite at STLCC.
- Completed the prerequisite from another college and have had your transcripts officially evaluated at STLCC.
- Submitted your Advanced Placement (AP) scores.
If you have not completed the above, but have proof of meeting a prerequisite, you can submit a request for a course override.
What happens if I don't complete a prerequisite successfully?
You may register for the next course while you're still finishing the prerequisite. For example, if you're taking ENG 101 this semester, you can register for ENG 102 for the next semester. However, if you earn a D, F, or withdraw (W) from ENG 101, your registration for ENG 102 will be canceled after final grades are posted.
How do I join a waitlist for a course?
If a course is closed, you can join the waitlist by attempting to register for the course and selecting the "waitlist" option from the drop-down menu.
Do I need to take a placement test?
STLCC uses multiple measures to determine course placement for students. Please refer to our placement guides for more information and direction.
