Dual Credit Program

Get Ahead in High School

Earn Real College Credit at Your High School

Dual credit lets you take real college classes while you’re still in high school. Your high school teachers teach the classes, and you earn college credit from St. Louis Community College.

You get the support of your high school and you also build an official STLCC transcript you can use after graduation.

What is Dual Credit?

Dual credit lets high school students take certain classes that count for both high school and college. You earn college credit at the same time you earn high school credit, and you start building a college transcript before you graduate high school.

Dual credit vs. Dual enrollment

  • Dual credit classes are taught at your high school by teachers who meet STLCC’s standards.
  • Dual enrollment means you take classes directly through STLCC, either online or on campus.

Both options earn college credit. The main differences are who teaches the class and how you register. Dual credit gives you a college-level class in the place where you already learn.

Why Choose Dual Credit with STLCC?

  • Save Money: Dual credit classes cost only $25 per credit hour. Most classes are around $75 total.
  • Save Time: You can finish high school with college credits in hand.
  • Stand Out: Dual credit shows colleges you’re ready for harder work.
  • Transfer Easily: Many dual credit courses are part of CORE 42, which means they transfer directly to any public university in Missouri.

STLCC is a NACEP-accredited program

STLCC’s dual credit program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). This means the classes taught at your high school meet the same standards as classes taught on STLCC campuses.

NACEP makes sure these programs are high-quality and helps teachers get ongoing training. STLCC’s program is accredited through the 2028–2029 school year.

Dual credit students must meet the same class requirements as all STLCC students. Talk with your high school counselor to make sure the class fits your goals and meets the prerequisites you need.

Classes include many general subjects such as English, math, history, science, social studies and world languages. Career and technical classes as well as electives like music, theater and art are also available.
