First-Time College Students
Starting college for the first time is a big step, and STLCC is here to make it easier.
What Does “First-Time” Mean at STLCC?
At St. Louis Community College, you’re considered a first-time college student if you’ve earned your high school diploma or GED but haven't previously enrolled in college-level courses. This includes:
- Recent high school graduates.
- Adult learners pursuing higher education for the first time.

Apply to STLCC as a First-Time College Student
- Apply to STLCC. Begin with our free online application to become a student.
Application for the 2026 calendar year opens Nov. 1. You can create an account or continue an existing application anytime.- You can also download our STLCC mobile app and complete the application using your mobile device.
- Tip: If you're not interested in earning a certificate or degree from STLCC, choose "selected courses" instead. As a reminder, A+ Scholarship students must be degree-seeking.
- Review Your Application Checklist. After submitting your application, you may receive an application checklist via email with missing supplemental items like official transcripts or test scores. Complete any pending items to stay on track.
- Get Connected.
- Activate Your MySTLCC Email. Once accepted, activate your student email. If this is the first time you are logging in, your password is your Student ID number with a # symbol at the end. Your password should look like A01234567#. Your official STLCC email is essential for all College communications, including orientation invites. If you have trouble logging in, contact the IT Help Desk via email or at 314-539-5113.
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator App. The two-step verification protects your MySTLCC ID. When you sign into your account, a notification or code will be sent to your email or phone. You then enter this code to gain access to your account.
Contact Enrollment Services
Enrollment services is your one-stop shop to get help with:
- Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov (St. Louis Community College
school code: 002469). - Requesting your official transcripts for the STLCC registrar's office.
- Reviewing your payment options.
Attend Archer Orientation
- Archer Orientation is required. You will receive an email with a link to sign up for orientation. During orientation, you'll meet with a student success advisor and register for your first semester courses. Orientation is provided virtually or in person at any campus location.
Getting Ready for the Semester
- Pay your remaining balance from your course registration (if applicable) with cash, check or credit card.
- Pick up your free Metro-U Pass at the cashier's office.
- Purchase your textbooks online.
