Jump-start Your Career as a Diesel Engine Specialist

STLCC's diesel technology programs prepare you for a career as a medium/heavy truck repair technician.

You will receive hands-on training to be skilled in diagnosing and repairing various truck systems, making you qualified for entry-level positions in dealerships, maintenance facilities and other vehicle-based operations. 

Through laboratory exercises and on-the-job training, you will have the chance to work with industry-standard tools and equipment.

What is Diesel Technology at St. Louis Community College?

Diesel technicians diagnose, repair and maintain diesel engines, which are commonly used in trucks, buses, construction equipment and other heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. 

Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training, students gain a deep understanding of diesel engine operation, fuel systems, electrical systems and computer diagnostics.

STLCC offers three programs:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS): a comprehensive degree that combines diesel automotive training with general education courses
  • Certificate of Proficiency (CP): a comprehensive certificate that focuses on diesel automotive training
  • Certificate of Specialization (CS): learn the essential skills needed to perform typical diesel services
